Bryce Kretz learned how to play drums while playing “RockBand” the video game. His parents saw his abilities and bought him his first drum kit on his eleventh birthday.
Within months of playing real drums, Bryce was sitting in with a local southern and classic rock band named “Rough Shot” .
Soon Bryce was asked to be the drummer of the band and was making the local news because of videos posted on YouTube. At age 12, Bryce was playing three gigs a week and had become DMR Custom Drums’ youngest endorser. Bryce credits DMR endorser Benny Puckett for a lot of his success. He says “Benny has not only made him a better drummer but has shown him how to have fun performing on stage.”
Bryce also says “Rich Redmond of The Jason Aldean Band has had a big part in his style and attitude when it comes to performing and life in general.” Neil Peart of Rush and Stewart Copeland of the Police, are also his current influences. Bryce had this to say of DMR Custom Drums, “the snare drums really pop.
The quality and workmanship of these drums is matched by no other drum company and they are not made in Taiwan either. Dan is a master drum builder.” Bryce now at age 14 has taken pride in helping other young musicians follow their dreams in music.
He and his band ‘ROUGH SHOT’ help kids and have them on stage during shows to show off their talent. Bryce likes to give back the chance he was given by the members of his band when they first let him perform on stage. Bryce says “without that first chance by his band-mates who knows what he would be today? He owes it all to them”. One can find Bryce all over South Florida playing every weekend with his band ROUGH SHOT.
